Shri Balaji Darshan
Tirumala Tirupati Balaji shrine is among the most popular temples of India. It reportedly attracts the largest number of pilgrims for any shrine in India. It also has a reputation of being one of the richest shrines in the world. People are encouraged to visit Tirupati Balaji on the day of Ekadasi in the month of Vaikunta, at which time all pilgrims in the abode of God will be forgiven of all their sins. They also would definitely attain salvation after they die, it is believed.
Tonsuring – the act of shaving your head to propitiate God - is a long standing ritual associated with Tirupati. As per the Vaishavite tradition, devotees offer their hair to the Lord which symbolizes effacing of the ego.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 (Arrive Chennai)
Arrive Chennai Airport / Railway Station. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Afternoon proceed on a sight seeing tour of the city visiting Kapaleshwar Temple, Government Museum and Marina Beach (second largest beach in the world). Overnight Stay.
Day 2 (Chennai - Tirupati / Tirumala)
Morning departure to Tirupati (160 kms. / approx. 3.5 hrs.) and check into hotel. Later visit to Tirumala hills (22 kms.). Visit Lord Balaji. World famous Richest God (Shri Balaji) and temple in the world visited by millions of devotees every year.
Day 3 (Tirupati - Kanchipuram - Chennai)
After Shri Balaji Darshan proceed to Kanchipuram (110 kms. / approx. 2.5 hrs.) Visit Shiv Kanchi and Vishnu Kanchi temples. Later move to chennai (70kms./ approx. 1.5hrs.). Check into Hotel. Overnight Stay.
Day 4 (Depart Chennai )
Morning, proceed to Mahabalipuram (60 kms. / approx. 1.5 hrs.). Visit Arjun Shillanyas, Pallavas Panch Rathas, Seashore temple. Later transfer to Chennai Airport / Railway Station for onward journey. Tour concludes.
