Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie
Mussorie, also known as the 'Queen of Hills" is home to a vast variety of flora and fauna living in the foothill of Himalayas. It geographically overlooks the mighty Himalayas to the Northeast and the commanding views of the educational center of Doon valley (Dehradun), Saharanpur and Haridwar in the south. While in Mussorie, one of the spots which is worth a visit is the pretty and enchanting Kempty Falls. This happens to be one of the biggest draw in Mussoorie, which is again one of the most sought after honeymoon destinations in India as the honeymooners in India.
Rishikesh, also known as the gateway to the Himalayas, is a holy city for Hindus located in the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India. The place will provide you with a wonderful spiritual experience with its temples, religious activities and godly atmosphere. Its scenic beauty amazes one so much that people (even non-Indians) have made this place their home. Rishikesh got its name after Lord Vishnu who appeared, as Lord Rishikesh, to 'Raibhya Rishi', as a result of his tapasya (austerities). In Skanda Purana, this area is known as 'Kubjamrak' since Lord Vishnu appeared under a mango tree. Legends state that Lord Rama did repentance here for killing Ravana, the demon king of Lanka; and Lakshmana, his younger brother, crossed the river Ganga, at a point, where the present 'Lakshman Jhula' bridge stands, using a jute rope bridge. The jute-rope bridge was replaced by iron-rope suspension bridge in 1889, and after it was washed away in the 1924 floods, it was replaced by a stronger present bridge. Even today, the western bank of the bridge has a Lakshmana temple, and across it lies a temple dedicated to Lord Rama; also present near by is a temple of his other brother, Bharata. Ramjhula bridge over the Ganga was made by the Indian government.
